Winter Swing Festival – Visiting Tasmania

There’s nothing quite like winter in Hobart with the many warm fires, fresh Antarctic air and the real possibility of snow on kunanyi/Mt Wellington.

You’ll find a wealth of amazing sights, tastes and experiences on your trip, whether you’re staying just in Hobart for the festival weekend or venturing further a field!

Here are just a couple of ideas to get you started:

Around Hobart:

  • Visit Salamanca Market on Saturday
  • visit Farm Gate Market on Sunday for lots of delicious produce
  • Get into the many award-winning local wines, beer, gins & whisky at the pubs, bars & breweries around town
  • Wander around historic Battery Point
  • Zoom up the mountain for spectacular views, many short bush walks & visit Lost Freight Cafe
  • You really can’t go wrong at any of the amazing eating establishments, cafes or bakeries
  • Visit the best jazz music shop anywhere (Music Without Frontiers)
  • Visit the spectacular world famous Mona Museum. Seriously.

Out of Hobart:

All of these are an easy day trip:

  • Tasman Peninsula (home of Port Arthur)
  • Coal River Valley (historic Richmond & amazing vineyards)
  • Huon Valley (apples, cider & wildness)
  • Bruny Island (home of the Bruny Isl. Cheese Co. & Get Schucked Oysters!)
  • Mt Field National Park (easily accessible Tasmanian wilderness with rainforests, waterfalls, giant trees & unique alpine plants)
