Thanks for dancing with us in 2020, but that’s all she wrote for the year, folks!
We’ll be back in 2021 – Wednesday classes will resume on the first Wednesday in February, but if you’re really hankering for a dance, Tuesday classes will run throughout January if numbers permit – contact Barry if you’re interested!
Otherwise, thanks for dancing with us in what has been a difficult year, and we look forward to seeing you again in 2021!
(PS – keep an eye out for a January social dancing announcement soon!)
– There will be a band – The Southern Lights Big Band!
– There will be a beginners class only on the night
– There will be plenty of social dancing!
– There will be performances, as well as the usual fare like a Shim Sham
Cost will be $25
HOWEVER, due to COVID, there will be no BYO alcohol (we’re not allowed to mix alcohol and dancing), and places will be limited according to the capacity of the room. So, BOOKING YOUR SPOT is essential.
You can book a spot in class, or by replying to this email, however, to hold your booking, pre-payment is required (either cash in class, or by bank transfer).
We’re trying something new on Wednesday nights. On the first Wednesday of every month we’re going to change the 8:30pm Hobart Hoppers class into a guided practica social dance. ALL WELCOME! The cost is $5, or if you’ve already done the previous two classes you get in for free. Plus we’ll have teachers on hand who are there to answer any questions you may have about your dancing!
Some come along and get some tips on how to improve, and have some great dances at the same time!
Did you know that when you take a TasSwing lesson for the very first time we’ll give you a free pass for your second class when you sign up to the newsletter? You can sign up in class, and then enjoy a second swing lesson on us!
Earlier this year three of our fabulous dancers, Michael, Ariadna an Liv led the iCharleston Hobart project and produced a fantastic video. We thought we should link it here so you can see it whenever you want!

Ever wonder what would happen if members of TasSwing, Lindy Mob and the Moonlight Aviators ever got together? Well, check out these videos below to see a great performance of the Lindy Chorus for Frankie 100! (note the videos are the same, one of them is just in sepia, if you prefer that old time look…)
It’s been about ten years since we last had t-shirts for sale, but our fabulous graphic designer, Veronica Dixon, has been hard at work, and has come up with a t-shirt line for TasSwing! You can see the options here, here, here and here.
There are a choice of designs, plus you can also pick the colour for your t-shirt (I got blue!). Prices range from $24-$27 (plus shipping).
At this stage we’re not planning on having any in class, they’ll only be available online.
So you live in, or are visiting Tasmania, and you want to swing dance? Well, you're in the right place! This site contains all the information about lessons and social dancing you'll need.
