To make up for all the social dancing we lost in 2020, we’ve decided to have an Easter Ball in 2021 – and we’ve invited the Southern Lights Orchestra to provide the music! You might remember them from the Christmas Party…
Just like with the Christmas Party, we’ll be holding the ball at the Polish Hall, and running a half hour beginners class at 6:30pm, followed by the orchestra at 7:00pm.
We’ve decided to shake things up a bit in 2021 and run Sweet, Sweet Swing on the FIRST Sunday of each month, so that means you can get your first dose of social dancing with TasSwing on Sunday, February 7.
Republic Bar and Cafe (Upstairs), 4-6pm, two hours of fabulous DJ music! Cost is $10.
Stay for dinner afterwards (the Republic has half price meals on Sundays).
It’s almost time to start dancing again! The Wednesday night TasSwing classes at the Polish Hall are going to resume on Wednesday, February 3. As usual, Beginner Swingers will be kicking things off at 6:30pm, followed by the Building Blocks class at 7:30pm.
Thanks for dancing with us in 2020, but that’s all she wrote for the year, folks!
We’ll be back in 2021 – Wednesday classes will resume on the first Wednesday in February, but if you’re really hankering for a dance, Tuesday classes will run throughout January if numbers permit – contact Barry if you’re interested!
Otherwise, thanks for dancing with us in what has been a difficult year, and we look forward to seeing you again in 2021!
(PS – keep an eye out for a January social dancing announcement soon!)
Did you know that when you take a TasSwing lesson for the very first time we’ll give you a free pass for your second class when you sign up to the newsletter? You can sign up in class, and then enjoy a second swing lesson on us!
Earlier this year three of our fabulous dancers, Michael, Ariadna an Liv led the iCharleston Hobart project and produced a fantastic video. We thought we should link it here so you can see it whenever you want!

Well, check out these videos below to see a great performance of the Lindy Chorus for Frankie 100! (note the videos are the same, one of them is just in sepia, if you prefer that old time look…)
