Need some swing tunes to practice to? Then why not try out our Spotify Playlist?
Well this is big news! As of May 3, we will be moving to our new venue at the Polish Hall, next door to the Polish Club.
We’re very excited about this, as there’s a great polished wood floor for us to use and there’s plenty of space to hang out before and after class. PLUS we’ve also negotiated a 10% discount for meals for dancers at the Polish Club next door – and Wednesday night is wood-fired pizza night.
The address is 20 New Town Road, but enter the Polish Hall via the blue door off Claire Street.
Meet our teachers for the Winter Swing Festival, Kieran and Georgia!
Living, dancing and singing in Melbourne, Georgia is a talented vocalist and singing teacher with a bad lindy hop habit. She teaches lindy hop, solo jazz and blues dance weekly in Melbourne, and travels internationally and nationally to dance and teach more times per year than she should.
Georgia is known for her relaxed, dry wit and supremely practical approach to teaching. She encourages students to seek out the ridiculous, and to take risks with new ideas.
Georgia has taught swing dance all around Australia and has placed in numerous competitions such as AJC and the Australian Swing Dance Championships. Along with Kieran Yee, Georgia was the recipient of this years Australian Hellzapoppin’ Prize.
More than anything though, Georgia loves to social dance and aims to get her students out on the social dance floor as soon as possible.
Kieran Yee loves all forms of Swing dancing! He brings an enthusiasm and energy to the floor that is as inspiring as it is unpredictable. Kieran has travelled and danced all around the world, including teaching in England, Argentina, Brazil, Denmark, Switzerland, the USA and most proudly, Herrang dance camp in Sweden.
He is a great communicator and teacher, with an encouraging and practical approach. Kieran combines an absolute joy for the dance and a passion for the music whether he is teaching, performing or hitting up the social floor. He loves meeting new people and he is always eager to have good times.
